PLAY FORMAT: |
Jr. Team Tennis is a co-ed team format. Each match consists of one set of: boys
singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles, and two sets of mixed
doubles. Match as well as season winners are determined based on the
cumulative number of games won. Each match typically takes about 1-1.5 hours
to complete. |

WHO CAN PLAY: |
We are forming 18U, 14U and 12U Intermediate Teams. This means that players cannot turn
older than their age any time prior to 8/31/11. Players who are RANKED in
the top 80 by Middle States Section of the USTA are ineligible to play on an intermediate team. These competitive tournament players must find an ADVANCED team to join. Our goal is to introduce beginners to match play in a fun team format.
Players should have some previous tennis experience in order to fully enjoy
competitive match play. Players should be able to
serve, keep score, and rally points back and forth a few times. Beginner
players can join the GPTA for Summer clinics to learn the fundamentals of
tennis play. |

WHEN: |
The 18U teams will play on Wednesday nights at 6pm and the 14U and 12U teams
will play on Sunday afternoons.

WHERE: |
All 12U and 14U matches will be played at the Hill School. 18U will play
home matches at the Hill School and away matches within about a 20 minute radius of Pottstown.

REGISTRATION PROCESS: |
18U….. To get the team registration information, please contact
heather@gptatennis.com
as we need to balance the number of boys & girls on each team to ensure
equal playing time. 12U and 14U team registration opened on 4/1. To
register, go to
http://teamtennis.usta.com and click “register to play” in the top left of the screen.
Registration deadline is
april 22nd.

SCHEDULE
Matches: |
12U and 14U on
Sundays: 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 6/5 and 6/12. 12U will play at 1:00 and 14U
at 3:00.
18U: Wednesdays at 6pm, schedule yet to be developed but
matches typically begin the 2nd week of May and continue to the 3rd
week of June. |

PRACTICES: |
Wednesdays 4/13, 4/20, 4/27 at The Hill School from
6-7:30 pm. These are “group” practices. Team practice will be held at
a convenient time for each team and Captain. Teams will be formed after all
kids are registered. We will work to make the teams as “even” as possible
so that everyone has a chance to play on a skill-balanced team.

COST: |
The
league fee for 12U and 14U is $43.50 (includes USTA league registration fee). Each player must also be a member
of the USTA to play on a team. The USTA Jr. membership fee is $19.00. So,
the total cost to participate in this program is just $59.00 which includes
a uniform shirt. The GPTA will sponsor a team party for the entire group of
kids in late June…..FUN! The cost for 18U is only $12.00 + USTA
membership. |
