USTA Junior Tournament

Event Summary

        The Greater Pottstown Tennis Association hosted a USTA (United States Tennis Association) sanctioned SR-5 Tennis Tournament from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31, 2009.   The SR-5 is a Boys under-16 tournament that was organized by the Set Point Tennis Organization our of Reading, Pa.   The tournament attracted the best boys in the Middle States Section of the USTA which includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey.   The Hill School graciously provided their courts for the three day tournament.   The Singles division first and second place players are Noah Joachim and Shane Monroe, respectively.   The Doubles final was won by Nicholas Bybel and Spencer Rhoads.   Nimgoankav Vivek and Nimgoankav Alok came in second in the doubles division.   This is the first time that Pottstown has sponsored a Tennis Tournament of this level.   The GPTA plans to host this event again next year as the organization's mission is to expand the sport of tennis throughout the Greater Pottstown Region.
